Alexis ARZIMANOGLOU
Biographical Sketch
Alexis Arzimanoglou is Consultant Child Neurologist at the Children's Hospital Robert Debré in Paris and in charge of the Epilepsy Program of the newly founded Service of Pediatric Neurology and Metabolic Disorders, headed by Philippe Evrard. Dr. Arzimanoglou graduated from the University of Salonica (1981) in Greece, and trained in Neurology at the Northwick Park Hospital, UK, and at the Hôpital de la Salpêtrière in Paris. He then worked with Jean Aicardi at the Hôpital des Enfants Malades, Paris, where his interest in childhood epilepsies began. Dr. Arzimanoglou is a member of the Board of the French Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy, coeditor of its journal "Epilepsies" and member of the Board of the Société Européenne de Neurologie Pédiatrique. He was recently asked to be Supplements Editor of "Epileptic Disorders", the first internatioanl epilepsy journal to include videotape material. He is also an active member of the International Child Neurology Association, of the French Neurological Society and a corresponding member of the American Epilepsy Society. His current interests include the management and genetics of childhood epilepsies, the development of new antiepileptic drugs, Sturge-Weber syndrome and malformations of cortical development.
