The European Federation of Pediatric Neurology Societies [EFCNS] has been founded in 1970 at St.Edmund's Hall, Oxford, by Ronald MacKeith.
At the 1993 Bern meeting, the EFCNS Board chaired by Franco Vassella decided to transform gradually the Federation in a European Pediatric Neurology Society [EPNS]. The Board elected at that time had Victor Dubowitz as president, Philippe Evrard as secretary general, Dietz Rating as treasurer, Jan Rotteveel as associate secretary and, as members, Peter Barth, Levon Badaljan, Jacobus Begeer, G

Two EPNS Congresses have been held since the decision to transform the European Federation in a European Society : the Eilat Congress (1995) with Shaul Harel as president and the Maastricht Congress (1997) with Onno van Nieuwenhuizen as president.
